Rahab

Acrylic on canvas with tobacco cloth and micacious iron oxide. 24 x 48 x 1.5" Gallery wrapped profile.   The story of Rahab is one of intrique, treason, restoration and salvation.  A controversial figure, Rahab, a prostitute, demonstrated herself to be intelligent, perceptive, well-informed, courageous and strategic in her actions, risking her life to save herself and her family.  In her faith she turned from her own culture, religion and people.  Her faith is exemplified by her heroic action.  She went from harlot to honor.   At the same time she committed treason against her nation.  

Her story is part of the greater story of the fall of Jericho and the Israelites' entrance into the promised land.  She and her family were the only survivors, spared by Joshua and the nation of Israel and she is the first recorded convert to Judiasm.  She is also, as the story goes, the mother of Boaz, who married Ruth, and is thereby a direct ancestor of Jesus.  In fact, she is one of only four women mentioned in Jesus' geneology in Matthew 1:5.  Further demonstrating her importance is the fact that she is listed among the 'faithful' by Paul and the author of the book of Hebrews.  She is mentioned three times in the New Testament.

The symbolism in the story of Rahab is rich indeed.   Most notable the scarlett cord used by the Jewish spies to escpae Jericho, and later used by Rahab as a symbol to protect her household, recalls the blood of the passover, the final plague in the story of Moses and the Israelites freedom from Egypt.  It's also a prophetic symbol of our salvation and freedom from sin through the blood of Christ.

Your item must be in the original packaging. You must have a reciept or proof of purchase. 

Once we recieve your item, we will inspect it.  If you return is approved, we will issue a refund via the original form of payment.

All items ship from the studio 5-7 business days from your order.  Items are carefully packaged to preserve each piece and safeguard it on it's journey to a new owner.
